And what better way to start off a great summer than EUROVISION 2012?
So speaking of that... My friend Ellie (
What's really awesome about Eurovision is, damn, they've got some amazing artists. Like, seriously. Hugely jealous American here officially wants to move to Europe just to watch the show every year and listen to them. And the range of genres is always pretty wide. One country would be singing a beautiful love ballad while another would be singing a modern day pop song. I think that's what makes voting a little difficult, but they're wonderful nonetheless.
Here are some of my top faves this year:
[link] Iceland - "Never Forget" by Greta Salome & Jónsi. These guys are my all-time favorite out of all the countries! Their song is just plain gorgeous, and the singers are outstanding. And thankfully, they're in the finals, so I hope they win~!
[link] Belarus - "We Are The Heroes" by Litesound. My 2nd favorite. I love the rock-ish feel to it, and damn, those Belarusian guys are sexy as Mother Russia. Sadly, they didn't make the finals. ):
[link] Germany - "Standing Still" by Roman Lob. I have to admit, this song sounds so American (the guy looks it too!), but beautiful nonetheless.
[link] Ireland - "Waterline" by Jedward. I just find these guys so utterly ADORABLE. I mean, seriously, two identical Irish twins with awesome hair, perfect in-sync dancing, epic outfits, and plus it's just a wonderful song in general! Hehe, they make me laugh. xD
[link] Finland - "Nar Jag Blundar" by Pernilla Karlsson. This one is entirely in Finnish, but I find it utterly gorgeous. It makes me so angry that she didn't make it to finals.
And, of course...
[link] Russia - "Party for Everybody" by Buranovskiye Babushki. Just because I find dancing old grandmas so adorable. >///< And apparently they're a big thing in Russia... My mom told me that my grandma watches Eurovision like it's a religion, so yeah.
Well, that's it for now. Good luck to all the countries! ^^
